PARKINSON'S DISEASE
Parkinson's disease, also known as tremor paralysis, reflects the degeneration of the nervous system. People over 50 years old, particularly men, are the most likely to develop the condition. When affected by Parkinson's disease, individuals face significant challenges in daily life activities and may experience depression.
1. Parkinson's Disease According to Modern Medicine
Parkinson's disease is caused by the degeneration of nerve cells in the substantia nigra area of the brain. These cells normally secrete dopamine, a neurotransmitter that controls movement.
The causes of damage may include genetics, environment, toxins, aging, cerebrovascular accidents, and excessive blood loss. As a result, the ability to produce dopamine is reduced, leading to the onset of Parkinson's disease.
Nerve cells are highly specialized, and once they die, they cannot regenerate, which presents a significant challenge. Modern medicine's approach to treating this disease is temporary, and finding a permanent cure remains a complex issue.
In recent years, various treatments have been researched to address this condition:
Stem cell transplantation into the brain to differentiate into dopamine-producing cells.
Implanting small electrical chips and pulse generators into the body to stimulate dopamine production.
Using antioxidant Coenzyme Q-10 to treat the disease.
Using drugs to block the activity of glutamate, an amino acid that damages nerve cells.
However, most of these treatments are still in the research phase.
1. Parkinson's Disease and Nerve Growth Factors
Research into nerve growth factors, aimed at stimulating conditions that help nerve cells recover or activate dormant neurons to secrete dopamine, offers significant hope in advancing the fight against Parkinson's disease.
2. Parkinson's Disease According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
The primary cause of Parkinson's disease in TCM is related to aging, with weakened liver blood and kidney yin. Insufficient blood fails to nourish the joints and blood vessels, causing stiffness, rigidity, and tremors. When yin is deficient, yang becomes excessive, which leads to internal wind movement in the liver. If this wind combines with damp phlegm, it obstructs the meridians, causing tremors.
It can also be caused by emotional stress, such as anger, which damages the liver. When the liver loses its ability to regulate qi, it becomes stagnant. Qi plays a role in blood circulation, so if qi is obstructed, blood will stagnate. Stagnant blood cannot nourish the joints or produce new blood, leading to joint stiffness, difficulty moving, spasms, and tremors. Poor nutrition, aging, anxiety, and fatigue can weaken the spleen and kidneys, leading to kidney yang deficiency. The spleen and kidneys are essential for the transformation of fluids, and if they fail to do so, fluids accumulate as dampness and phlegm. This phlegm obstructs the meridians and turns into heat, which disturbs the wind and causes tremors.
Therefore, the TCM approach to treating Parkinson's is to nourish the blood, tonify yin, expel cold dampness, and promote joint health. This helps patients gain more flexibility and build resistance to combat the disease.
For deep, targeted effects to increase the body’s resistance to the disease, no formula is better than the "Nhu Can Dưỡng Huyết Thang" (from Thiên gia diệu phương), which nourishes blood, tonifies yin, invigorates blood circulation, strengthens the liver and kidneys, expels wind dampness, and helps with joint mobility to effectively treat tremors.
Angelica sinensis (Đương quy): Sweet and spicy in flavor, warm in nature, affects the liver, heart, and spleen. It helps nourish blood, activate blood circulation, and is used for blood deficiency and pain due to trauma (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
Cao Dang (Câu đằng): Sweet, cool in nature, affects the liver and pericardium. It has a calming effect on the liver, expels wind, stabilizes the body, and is used for dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, high fever, and seizures (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
Chrysanthemum (Cúc hoa): Sweet and neutral in nature, affects the spleen, stomach, lungs, and kidneys. It helps expel wind-dampness, clear the head, detoxify, and is used for conditions like dizziness and headaches due to wind (according to Vietnamese Herbal Medicine and Pharmacopoeia).
Rehmannia (Sinh địa): Sweet, bitter, and cold in nature, affects the heart, liver, and kidneys. It helps clear heat, nourish the blood, and treat conditions like cold, sore throat, blood heat, and bleeding (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
White Peony (Bạch thược): Bitter and sour, slightly cold, affects the spleen, liver, and lungs. It nourishes blood, tones yin, soothes the tendons, calms the liver, and alleviates pain (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
Cuscuta (Câu kỳ): Sweet and neutral in nature, affects the lungs, liver, and kidneys. It tonifies the liver and kidneys, strengthens the essence, and improves vision (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
Moutan Root (Đan bì): Spicy, bitter, slightly cold, affects the heart, liver, and kidneys. It helps clear heat, cools the blood, invigorates blood circulation, and resolves stagnation (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
Mulberry Root (Tang chi): Bitter and neutral in nature, affects the liver. It expels wind-dampness, benefits the joints, and is used for joint pain and difficulty in movement (according to Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV).
From the precious herbal ingredients above, Nhu Can Dưỡng Huyết Thang exerts a deep effect on individuals with Parkinson's disease through the following mechanisms:
Clearing heat, cooling the blood, nourishing the blood, promoting blood circulation, detoxifying the body, and delivering blood to the nervous system and joints.
Calming the mind, tonifying the liver and kidneys, and spleen-stomach, relieving headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, and physical weakness.
Expelling wind-dampness, facilitating the flow of dampness, treating joint pain, and improving the ability to move limbs and joints.
Moreover, the essence of this herbal formula, Nhu Can Dưỡng Huyết Thang, has been carefully studied by the Scientific Council of MTA Pharmaceutical Company, leading to the development of MTA Thư Can Dưỡng Huyết, a product designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease.
MTA Thư Can Dưỡng Huyết helps to support blood nourishment and circulation; it also assists in reducing symptoms of Parkinson's, such as shaking hands and feet, muscle stiffness, and joint rigidity. The product works with the following deep-acting mechanisms:
Stage One:Eliminating phlegm and dampness, clearing coldness accumulated in the body, and cooling the body. During this stage, patients may experience a worsening of tremors, especially in their hands and feet, compared to before starting the treatment. This is the "initial phase" of the treatment, where the medicine stimulates blood circulation, moving stagnant blood.
Stage Two:Calming the mind, tonifying the liver and kidneys, reducing headaches, and promoting the smooth flow of qi and blood, delivering nourishment to the nervous system and joints. In this phase, patients can start regaining control over their bodily movements. Tremors, muscle stiffness, and rigidity improve. Patients may also experience better appetite, improved digestion, and enhanced mental well-being.
Stage Three:Restoring movement, nourishing the nervous system, and reducing physical weakness. This is the recovery phase where the patient's health significantly improves. The mind becomes clearer, and the stiffness in the joints and muscles disappears, preventing relapse.

Diet and Lifestyle for Parkinson's Patients
Nutrition experts recommend that individuals with Parkinson's disease follow a balanced diet, which is beneficial for their health. A well-rounded, nutrient-rich diet that nutrition specialists suggest for Parkinson’s patients includes:
Eating a variety of foods. It’s important not to rely on just one type of food to supplement vitamins and minerals. If you plan to take multivitamins, it’s best to consult a doctor first, as excess vitamins can be more harmful than a deficiency.
Incorporating fiber-rich foods such as vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and fresh fruits into the diet.
Drink plenty of water daily.
Avoid foods high in saturated fats and cholesterol.
Limit foods with high sugar content.
Avoid excessive salt intake and foods high in sodium.
Refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages, such as wine and beer.
In addition to maintaining a proper diet, Parkinson’s patients should engage in regular physical exercise. A balanced diet that helps maintain a healthy body weight has a very positive effect on Parkinson’s disease.
There have been miraculous improvements for patients who have chosen to use Thư Can Dưỡng Huyết MTA.
