Malnutrition in Children
According to a report by UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), Vietnam has the third-highest annual rate of malnutrition among children in the region, behind only Malaysia and China.
The Harm of Malnutrition
Children who suffer from malnutrition without early intervention will face physical development issues such as being shorter or stunted; delayed cognitive and intellectual development. In particular, health is also at risk due to a weakened immune system, making children more susceptible to infections such as diarrhea, respiratory infections, and frequent illnesses whenever the weather changes.
Children at High Risk for Rickets and Malnutrition:
Premature, low birth weight, or underweight infants.
Children suffering from malnutrition while in the womb: born full-term but underweight or short.
Children born with congenital disabilities.
Children with long-term digestive disorders or intestinal bacterial imbalances.
Children who have an unbalanced diet that lacks sufficient nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to meet their developmental needs.
Solutions for Treating Malnutrition
Western Medicine and Treatment Approaches
Malnutrition refers to the condition of lacking essential nutrients, most commonly protein, vitamins, and minerals. It is considered one of the biggest obstacles to human growth and development and a burden on society. The disease causes serious consequences, and treatment methods to improve the condition face many challenges, difficulties in implementation, and limited effectiveness.
Traditional Medicine and Supportive Treatment Approaches
In traditional medicine, malnutrition in children is often referred to as "Cam." This condition is always related to irregular digestive activity (food stagnation or accumulation), thus called "Cam tích." The disease is caused by a congenital weakness in the spleen, or by prolonged illness leading to a deficiency in qi and blood, which reduces the function of the spleen and stomach, preventing them from nourishing the muscles, leading to a thin and weak body.
Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, treatment involves eliminating stagnation, strengthening the spleen and stomach, and improving digestion. Using ancient remedies, MTA Pharmaceuticals has researched and applied the formula to produce MTA Kiện Tỳ Tiêu Thực, a product that helps improve overall health, enhance appetite, and promote weight gain.
