Causes of Asthma in Children
Experts suggest that asthma is a common condition across all age groups, especially among children and the elderly. The condition can be caused by various factors or a combination of multiple factors, with allergic triggers being the most common cause.
Common Triggers of Asthma in Children
Consequences
The disease progresses in acute episodes, with each episode causing the condition to worsen and become more dangerous. In some cases, frequent relapses with untreated bronchial inflammation can facilitate the disease's progression, leading to serious complications such as:
Bronchial infection
Lung collapse
Chronic cor pulmonale
Pneumothorax, mediastinal emphysema
Multilobed emphysema
Respiratory arrest, respiratory failure
TREATMENT SOLUTIONS
Western Medicine:
Typically, prescriptions include: heavy-duty antibiotics, strong anti-inflammatory drugs, potent cough suppressants, bronchodilators, general supplements, and fever-reducing and pain-relieving medications.
But do you know how many dangerous side effects your body is enduring from the modern medicine you're taking daily?
However, there are many hidden dangers that patients often overlook, such as:
Causing gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and in severe cases, gastric bleeding.
Leading to bone erosion, brittle bones, and in children, rickets, stunted growth, and delayed brain development.
Causing edema, kidney failure, and in severe cases, the need for dialysis.
Leading to liver failure, hepatitis, cirrhosis, and high liver enzymes.
Triggering rapid heart rate, palpitations, and tremors in the limbs.
Suppressing immunity and reducing the body's resistance in the bronchial tubes and the entire body. This weakens the bronchial elasticity.
=> Consequently, this causes the disease to progress and persist longer.
Traditional Medicine: According to traditional medicine: "To eliminate the disease, you must address its root cause."
Advantages of using traditional medicine to overcome the disease:
Eliminates the disease at its source
Safe with no side effects
Strengthens and boosts the body’s immunity
Asthma is not just a respiratory issue; it is a systemic condition with manifestations in the respiratory system, characterized by bronchial constriction and excessive mucus secretion. The goal of traditional medicine is to eliminate the disease comprehensively, restore balance to the entire body, enhance immune function, and focus on eliminating the disease’s underlying cause, leading to full recovery.
Therefore, the general principle of removing asthma in traditional medicine is "Strengthen the body's core, expel the external pathogens." The "Inner Canon" states: “When external pathogens invade, the body's vital energy is disturbed.” After alleviating asthma attacks, continue to "strengthen the body’s core," making the body healthier, boosting resistance, and preventing relapses even in unfavorable environmental conditions.

Home Remedies for Asthma
In addition to applying treatments for children with asthma, mothers should pay attention to their child's diet.
The diet for children with asthma should include:
Magnesium-rich foods: Magnesium helps relax the muscles around the airways, which is very beneficial for people with asthma. Therefore, mothers should add magnesium-rich foods like leafy greens, whole grains, tomatoes, milk, and beans (if the child is not allergic) to their child's daily meals.
Omega-3: Omega-3 helps boost the child's immunity, prevent asthma attacks, and improve respiratory function. Mothers can supplement omega-3 by offering fish like mackerel and salmon, vegetables, nuts, and omega-3 oils.
Vitamin C: Studies show that children with asthma have 50% less vitamin C compared to healthy children. Supplementing vitamin C helps reduce airway obstruction and alleviates asthma symptoms. Mothers can provide vitamin C through fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, and green leafy vegetables.
Honey: Honey contains natural antibacterial properties, which can reduce inflammation and thin mucus, making it easier to expel. This helps prevent asthma attacks and enhances the child’s respiratory function. To use, mothers can mix a teaspoon of honey (adjust dosage depending on the child's age) with warm water and give it to the child daily.
Nuts rich in vitamin E: These help reduce wheezing symptoms (at least 3 times a week).
What to Avoid:
The risk of triggering an asthma attack is very high if the child eats foods they are allergic to. Therefore, based on the child's allergic reactions, parents should avoid foods the child has previously shown signs of being allergic to. Additionally, the following foods should be avoided:
Foods high in salt and fried foods: It is recommended to eat low-salt food, avoiding excessive salt and water retention, which can worsen breathing difficulties. The daily salt intake should be under 6g.
Carbonated beverages
Highly spiced foods, mixed vegetables, salads, pickled foods, or processed foods like canned goods and packaged dried fruits
