REVERSING LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND FATTY LIVER WITH TRADITIONAL EASTERN MEDICINE
Traditional Eastern medicine considers fatty liver to be a condition of accumulation and phlegm stagnation. The primary causes include irregular eating habits, mental stress, excessive alcohol consumption, leading to liver qi stagnation, damp-heat and phlegm accumulation, and impaired circulation of qi and blood beneath the ribs.
Fatty liver is a condition in which fat (primarily triglycerides) makes up more than 5% of the liver's weight. Mild fatty liver occurs when fat accounts for 5–10% of the liver, moderate is 10–25%, and severe is when it exceeds 30%.
Signs of Fatty Liver Disease
Fatty Liver from the Perspective of Traditional Eastern Medicine
Traditional Eastern medicine views fatty liver not as a disease in itself but rather as a manifestation of conditions such as dizziness, headaches, phlegm dampness, and severe abdominal pain. The root cause of this condition may be due to:
Consumption of cold foods: This can harm the Spleen (Tỳ), which in turn weakens its ability to transform moisture and dampness, as well as metabolize nutrients. As a result, moisture and nutrients accumulate, leading to fatty liver.
Excessive Consumption of Fats, Sweets, or Alcohol: These factors can also affect the Spleen (Tỳ), leading to the development of fatty liver disease.
Kidney Qi Deficiency: In elderly individuals, the body tends to weaken. Kidney Qi deficiency can make them more susceptible to fatty liver.
Emotional Distress Leading to Liver Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis: When liver Qi stagnates, it can affect the Spleen and Stomach, causing dysfunction in the Spleen’s ability to transform and metabolize nutrients. This results in the accumulation of fat, leading to fatty liver. Traditional herbs can help reduce lipid peroxidation in the liver, alleviate pressure on the liver, enhance its function, and support quick recovery.
The Trend of Using Traditional Eastern Medicine to Treat Fatty Liver: The use of traditional herbal remedies for fatty liver disease is becoming more common in modern society. This is largely due to the side effects caused by many pharmaceutical drugs. While Western medicine plays an essential role, the growing fear and concern about side effects have led people to seek natural, herbal remedies with the hope of curing fatty liver disease safely and effectively.
Treatment Approach in Traditional Eastern Medicine
The liver is the second-largest organ in the body (after the skin). It plays a crucial role in maintaining our health and is often described as the "magic factory" of the human body. With its complex structure and vascular system, the liver performs over 500 functions, including synthesizing, filtering, and detoxifying substances to keep the body healthy.
Western medicine can control viral infections temporarily but doesn't address the root causes. When medication is stopped, the disease may return, affecting the immune system and liver detoxification.
Eastern Medicine, which focuses on cooling and balancing, treats liver diseases by addressing heat, detoxifying, fighting infections, boosting cellular immunity, improving circulation, and balancing the organs. It nourishes the blood, strengthens the liver, and eliminates excess heat, providing a holistic treatment approach that helps restore the liver’s function.
MTA Thanh Can Mộc was created with the mission to support liver health and improve liver function in cases of cirrhosis and fatty liver. The product is manufactured in a GMP-certified factory, tested in a GLP-compliant laboratory, and approved for nationwide distribution by the Ministry of Health.

What Should and Should Not Be Eaten by People with Fatty Liver?
Foods to Eat:
Green Vegetables and Fresh Fruits: People with fatty liver should eat plenty of green vegetables and fresh fruits for their fiber content, which helps promote digestion, prevent constipation, and fight atherosclerosis. Green vegetables are also rich in vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin A and E, which help prevent further fat accumulation in the liver. Recommended vegetables and fruits include: oranges, grapefruits, kale, water spinach, broccoli, celery, etc.
Healthy Drinks for the Liver: People with fatty liver should drink beverages that are beneficial to the liver, such as artichoke tea, lotus leaf tea, and mulberry tea. These drinks help reduce fat in the liver, detoxify, regulate the body, and prevent fat accumulation in the liver.
Protein and Dairy: Lean proteins such as poultry, eggs, soybeans, fish, seafood, and various legumes are ideal for maintaining weight and reducing body fat. Excess fat and calories can be minimized by removing visible fats (such as chicken skin) before cooking and using healthier cooking methods like grilling, steaming, or roasting.
Low-Cholesterol Foods: Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fatty fish, olive oil, and nuts, are recommended to help treat fatty liver.
Foods to Avoid:
The goal of treating fatty liver is to reduce fat levels in the liver. Therefore, individuals with fatty liver should avoid the following foods:
Limit Animal Fats: Animal fats, when consumed, are excreted by the liver. Excessive consumption of animal fats burdens the liver, preventing it from excreting fat properly, leading to accumulation and worsening fatty liver. You should replace animal fats with plant-based oils.
Avoid High-Cholesterol Foods: Animal organs, egg yolks, and other foods high in cholesterol should be reduced as they contribute to fat accumulation in the liver.
Avoid Excess Red Meat: Eating too much red meat can worsen fatty liver disease.
Limit Fruits High in Fructose: High sugar content in fruits contributes to diseases like obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver. Fructose is metabolized in the liver, so reducing consumption of fruits high in fructose will help alleviate the liver's burden and prevent fatty liver.
Avoid Spicy Foods: It is essential to limit spicy foods as they can reduce liver function, preventing the liver from excreting fat, causing further accumulation and worsening the condition.
Avoid Stimulants and Alcoholic Beverages: Alcohol and stimulants are strictly prohibited for people with fatty liver disease. Consuming alcohol speeds up the transition from fatty liver to cirrhosis or even liver cancer. Detoxifying alcohol and fat is an enormous burden on the liver..
